Abba united, well at least for one night only! Last weekend the four piece singing sensation were reunited at a private event marking 50 years since Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Anderson met. And the four performers gave an impromptu performance, for the first time in over thirty years.
Fans attending this reunion were not expecting any kind of performance and were totally taken aback when the foursome launched into a rendition of Me and I. Strangely there is no footage available on the but if it eventually does surface, we feel it might break the internet.
Abba have been one of the most successful bands of our time, only outsold by the Beatles. Whilst the final numbers may never be in, the band have sold in excess of 380 million albums and singles since they came into prominence 40 years ago! It is suggested that the band will eventually have sold over 100 billion records. The secret of their success is unknown, but industry professionals suggest that it was their ability to make great records as well write great pop songs, it was everything, the performance and the arrangements.
Abba were thrusted into the limelight during the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with their hit performance Waterloo. Possibly the most amazing thing to happen during the Eurovision, apart from the aptly named La La La song from Spain back in 1998! Abba were initially two married couples who later sadly separated. Bjorn has previously been recorded as saying that Abba will never reunite or perform on stage again, but could this be the start of something new. We wait with baited breath…
