In this video students are encouraged to keep going with sight reading. The tutor discusses how to sight read like a professional and highlights that a good sight-reader will have two main skills.

  1. Accuracy of Notes
  2. Ability to keep going without starting, stopping or hesitating.

In the video the tutor tells us that when we begin to sight read it is expected that we shall make mistakes, we cannot get it perfect straight off. The key is to keep going, get the timing right and trust that accuracy will develop as long as we keep practicing.

If you are just starting to practice sight reading the video below is a great introduction to the basics. The tutor suggests that when we are practicing our sight reading we should always look at a piece below the grade which we are studying. The video breaks sight reading down in sections and will inspire new learners to keep moving towards their goals.
