As the web title suggests, this is a Harmonica learning site aimed specifically at children. As you click into the site there is plenty of colour which makes it instantly attractive for children. The tabs at the left had side of the page start with a guide on which harmonica to buy, followed by some practice songs including row, row, row, your boat and Twinkle, Twinkle. At the top of the page parents wills see tabs aimed at specific age groups. The information is presented in written form. The site is part of a larger site called harmonicalessons.com and once children have progressed though the early stages, they might benefit from clicking through to the parent site and watching some of the video lessons. The lesson start with basics and work right through into advanced playing. The adult site also offers a range of online live lessons, which could be appealing to those taking it more seriously. When a child is learning to an instrument, half the battle is getting them to practice. Harmonica for kids does present information in a “cartoon” like manner which might spark a child’s imagination more than plain text. The site also features a section designed simply to help parent and teachers. This ranges from advice on how to help your child achieve their music goals and links to inexpensive instruments, supporting materials and printed music. Harmonica for kids is not an end to end solution for learning the instrument but it is a lite version of the adult section and children will not feel overwhelmed with an overload of information. The site is very easy to navigate and children could easily use the webpage without supervision.
