“When I’m Cleaning Windows”, a song popularised by box office attraction George Formby which featured the Ukulele. For Lancashire born George the shores of Hawaii could not seem more removed, but that is where the instrument is from. Of course these days there are many online resources instructing us how to play guitar or the piano, and the Ukulele is no different. So for those who are starting from the very beginning, Uke School is a great place to start. The site is aimed at complete beginners and so it goes through everything from tuning the instrument to how to hold it. The site is well laid out and easy to navigate with the lessons being divided into beginners, basic and advanced. So why should you learn to play the Ukulele? There is one very simple answer, it is fairly easy. It is a great instrument for kids to take up as they progress quickly and really see the development in their skills. The site is not overly modern and not particularly interactive. However it is very informative and a great place to start on your musical journey.
