Online Singing Lesson – Becoming A Female Powerhouse Singer

Online singing lesson websites may appeal to you because you have your sights set on being the next Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey or Ariana Grande. If you want to master the art of being a good female powerhouse singer, read on to discover some top tips to take into your singing lessons online.

The first thing you need to do is recognise that everyone has her own vocal timbre, which means the colour of the voice. Dramatic is the heaviest, moving down to spinto, then to lyric, and then soubrette is the lightest. Dramatic voices are very heavy and full. You then have spinto, which actually means ‘pushed’. These singers tend to have an edgy voice and can handle belting at intermittent levels, with Christina Aguilera being a prime example of this type of singer. Lyric voices are relatively light; but if used correctly, they can overpower those with a dramatic voice. Celine Dion is an example of a lyric singer. Finally, soubrette singers are not often able to belt, as they do not have much power or range, with Britney Spears being a good example. Once you know your vocal timbre, you then need to work out your range; in other words, whether it is alto, mezzo-soprano, or soprano. However, your range is not the be-all and end-all – it does not determine whether you can belt or not. Now, you are ready to practice. You will need to keep your jaw relaxed and remember to breathe. And, if your voice starts to hurt, stop!
